I still remember in early 2020 when COVID did not become a pandemic which we know today, and we’re talking about the budget. For that, I was going through a Budget speech. Listening to the entire budget was a hectic and tiring job.

Even today, I keep the same view about this year’s budget.

It is very hectic to listen to it all. So let’s make it simple.

I think our finance minister forget that budget is a simple way to present income and expenditure. Once she made it to Bahi Khata, then something else. So this year, it was a digital budget.

We don’t want this all nonsense.

The nation needs something vital this year after the worst second wave of the covid 19 pandemic. Former FM P Chidambaram made it clear.

this was the backdrop.

India was in no need of central bank digital currency. There was no need for longer-term expenditure. And saying THIS budget is for the next 25 years. 5-year plan and Planning commission, now NITI Ayog is there for that.

I realized that all the nations that handled COVID 19 better had their public healthcare system strong. For example, in India, our expenditure on healthcare is way smaller. Fiscal prudence is a great thing, but not for countries where the government is one considerable force.

Divestment is a perfect example where FM accepts their failure—planning to sell many PSUs. Failed. While writing this blogpost, were are waiting for DRHP of LIC. That’s why the target for Divestment is lower this year. and there was no mention of Divestment, privatization, etc

One thing our contributor Gopal kavalireddi highlighted is that dividend from RBI. as Divestment is not working, dividend from all PSUs is the way of income for the government. I am entirely against this.

While saying that we collect record collection from GST, I don’t know why petrol and diesel still have old excise and customs tax. Is that acceptance that GST is failed? FM of <Maharashtra Ajit Pawar repeated it, correct. What is there for states is invisible.

As elections are close for UP, the government tried to appease sugarcane farmers by allocating payments for old dues. But why is there nothing for direct handing cash benefit? Like what the US does. Was it giving checks to families? It was one big help. At least they can give back the total amount of tax paid for every taxpayer in the last five years as a loan? Forget that. Is it helping every family where someone dies due to covid? That can help such families big. I don’t know why that was not here.

Overall it wasn’t something which I can Clapp for.

I will say. There was nothing good. The only good thing is that this didn’t go to meet her regular target, which is more than a 2-hour budget,
