Franklin Pierce was the 14th President of the United States, serving from 1853 to 1857. He was born in New Hampshire in 1804 and became a successful lawyer and politician.
Pierce was a member of the Democratic Party and was known for his support of states’ rights and a limited federal government. He was also a strong advocate for westward expansion and played a key role in the United States acquisition of new territories during his presidency.
One of the main challenges faced by Pierce during his presidency was the issue of slavery. He was a slave owner and opposed the abolition of slavery, believing it was a states’ rights issue.
Despite his efforts to maintain the balance between the North and South, Pierce’s presidency was marked by tensions and conflict over slavery. He signed the Kansas-Nebraska Act, which allowed new territories to decide for themselves whether to allow slavery, and this legislation further inflamed tensions between the North and South.
Pierce’s presidency was also marked by other challenges, including economic recession and foreign policy issues. He is often ranked as one of the least effective presidents in history due to his inability to address these challenges and the fact that he did not seek a second term.
Despite his many challenges and limited accomplishments, Pierce is remembered as a dedicated and courageous leader who served his country during a difficult and tumultuous time in its history.
From the point I decided to write this topic, I was aware that for some presidents there would not be much to write. Some prudent maybe keep views way different than my own views but still, I was interested to do it. But here I found complete failure. A president who Not only supports slavery. But also, in fact, Pierce publicly blamed Lincoln for the war. He was alive after the death of president lincoln. But due to his outspoken behavior, he lost friends. Slavery was definitely an issue but some presidents tried to keep it limited. But the way it went ahead because of him was something out of my mind. By the end of the war, Franklin Pierce was all but forgotten, as reclusive as his wife had been in the White House. What I found interesting is he fought against general Winfield score, a whig party candidate, and won because south people loved his support of slavery.
Another mind-boggling fact was the house speaker election. record 133 times votes. franklin pierce was president at that time. He was ready to speak but he finally gave up waiting on them and submitted a message to the Senate. in 1853, Franklin pierces and his family faced a train accident. His son was only casual. That all was sufficient to give him trauma. That may be the reason for his alcoholism.
So what to learn about finance from him? This man made so many mistakes. On a personal level and on another level. Forgive me if this post looks nothing like my regular Well, after the recent fight in the House Speaker election, I can say You can learn from him what not to do about personal finance.
The best and simple way to go bankrupt is to have so many credit cards and many loans. If you know how to handle them and you use them in limit then best. Credit cards can be great. but if not handle it correctly, you are ready to go bankrupt. That was the same for franklin pierce. He received a little better situation after the 1850 compromise. I know that a large part of Louisiana was unorganized and needed to govern but taking such extreme actions which can make what historians know as bleeding Kansas. in the same way, you may receive some debt from your father and mother but it will be possible for you to earn it a little bit better.
The link between debt and alcohol abuse can be seen on the national level as well as on a personal level. Alcohol abuse can cause absenteeism, presenteeism, and poor spending habits that in turn can negatively impact the finances of companies and individuals.
Debt is something that the majority of Americans have. According to America’s Debt Help Organization, the total U.S. consumer debt is at $13.86 trillion. However, this number includes auto loans, mortgages, student loans, and credit card debt, which are not necessarily bad forms of debt. Taking out a loan to purchase a home or car is often just a part of life, and if payments are made on time then it should not be a cause for concern. It becomes concerning when someone becomes unable to make payments and continues to increase their debt. Unfortunately, this is often seen in people struggling with an alcohol or substance use disorder. Debt and alcohol abuse often go hand-in-hand, as the severe and negative consequences of alcoholism take a toll on an individual’s life personally, physically, professionally, and financially.
One study found that college students who used alcohol had more credit card debt than non-alcohol users. 28% of alcohol users had credit card debt over $1,000 and 18.3% of non-alcohol users had debt over $1,000. Using alcohol excessively in college can lead to money management problems when it should be a time to learn how to properly handle finances and prepare for the future. Another study from Internet Scientific Publications found that “Smoking, drinking, high-risk drinking, less exercise, and poorer mental health were related to having debt.” There are many reasons why debt and alcohol abuse are linked, including alcohol’s effects on mental health, physical health, and spending habits.
All thanks to Mr. Beat, I can now say that pierce was the guy who made Gadsden purchase. All because of that Transcontinental Road becomes reality. 1.8 million people live there. He was also a man who reduce tariffs, making Life Possible for business. He signed trade treaties with Britain and Japan and his Cabinet reformed its departments and improved accountability, but political strife during his presidency overshadowed these successes. Pierce was popular and outgoing, but his family life was difficult; his three children died young and his wife, Jane Pierce, suffered from illness and depression for much of her life. Their last surviving son was killed in a train accident while the family was traveling, shortly before Pierce’s inauguration. His wife always said that the death of his son was the cost of his presidency.
So What I learn here is not all things are in your hand. Sometimes things outside your control are having effects on your life way more than you think and so taking advice from someone who is having expertise is not wrong.
